SOPHIA'S AWARDS
German Silber Bear, Berlinale 98
Prize of the German critique
N.Y. Times Writer's Pick
among others

On Monday the 5th of November, Sophia will be a special guest at REELWOMEN.org

A daring character, Sophia has excelled in many careers spanning film: film production, publicity, television, consulting, teaching and publishing. As early as 1984, she was directing the production of commercials for clients such as Charlie, Revlon, and Quaker.

In search for the philosophic-existentialist angle, Sophia is a big fan of the Short Film.

"If you can structure a ten minute unit, you can structure a feature film." -she affirms.

Her students write a short film, in two to three weeks time, with which they explore the director's work in writing. Students will benefit from Sophia's 30+ years experience as a Filmographer around the world.

PERSONA

I am that horse that races along
through surreal landscapes
towards and from
leaving behind the finish line
Bathed in foam and breathless,
when I stop and look back
there is no sign of the others... or the race
And I win!
The Pyrrhic victory
Then I see:
the others are never there
I am racing for and against myself!
